Assignment to have been completed: Students were to have word-processed a second draft of their response to the prompt.

Objectives: To revise and essay for grammar, usage, and mechanics

Activities:

• A. Place a checkmark on the seating chart for each student who has a completed draft today.

• B. Allow students who need to complete their papers and who can show you a draft to use a computer in the back of the room (or go to the Writing Lab if not enough computers are available) to word process their papers. Remind them that they have only this period to accomplish that task.

• C. Have students count off by twos; then instruct them to select a writing partner so that ones are paired with twos.

• D. Distribute the editing checklist and allow students to read and critique each other’s essays.

• E. Once a pair completes the task, they should look for a second partner.

Assignment for next class meeting: Revise your second draft. Produce a third word- processed draft.
